That year of 2009, I kind of settled into a routine.Everything was falling into place. Me and Edwin (my wife) were even planning to have kids soon, and our wedding was planned for that same year.

You see Edwin is an extremely loving person. When she loves, she loves for real. And at the time I took her for granted. I thought that she was to be mine forever. Gosh what a mistake that was.

Playing With Her Feelings

I started hanging out more with one of my friends who had recently divorced his wife. He took back to the club nights, the beers and the girls. I was still in love with my wife, but I did indulge in the occasional flirt here and there. I went as far as lips kissing girls I met in those wild nights out. Meanwhile my wedding was only 12 days away.

It also happened that I took some girl’s numbers on my BlackBerry Bold. I was anonymizing their names by entering them as guys names into my phone. One day I added one of my new acquaintances to my Facebook account. This was to be the start of my downfall.

One fatal night, I came back home to be met with the sad sight of my wife in tears. She was standing up against the wall, her head in her palms, sobbing loud. I came to her to ask her what the problem was (although I knew deep down what it was): she whispered the most painful words I have heard so far in my brief life:

“How could you? You fooled me. I saw those pictures of you kissing a girl. I HATE you”.

Edwin is a good woman, but albeit a rather proud one too. She loves like there is no tomorrow, but she can not bear being played with and cheated. I messed up big time and I knew it. I started getting all apologetic.

“Edwin it was a mistake, I will never do it again! I love you you know, you are the only one! (etc. add your own miserable excuses here…)”

She would not have it. Like R. Kelly said in a well known song, “When a woman’s fed up, there ain’t nothing you can do about it. It’s like running out of love… and it’s too late to talk about it.”

Edwin filed for divorce. She could not conceive that the man she was about to marry in less than 10 days was cheating on her. I was devastated.

Ok technically she was not my spouse yet: but since we were only a few days away from getting married I though I might call her my spouse as well. Getting your spouse back is one of the hardest thing to do. The strange thing is that NONE of the things you would naturally expect to work did help me to get my spouse back.
